8:25 23-20 East...Sullinger played at beginning...out now
8:27 pm Sullinger back and is a beast!  Could have used him against Tennessee!
8:30 pm  Amateur slam dunk contest now...pretty choppy, no flow but girls improved dramatically 3rd qtr.  Both future Buckeyes playing now.  38-35 West.
8:33pm Value City about half full, not a bad turnout.  About the same crowd reaction as during an OSU game...not much.
8:35pm  Obvious talent on floor!  You food peeps want to know...press food was better tonight and no it wsn't Mac's.  Time out  6 min first half 38-37 West
8:36 By the way Buckeye recruits on East squad.  Hopefully this will be the beginning of the Buckeyes being represented every year.  Need to be a perennial winner
8:39pm Unfortunately, Patric Young (Florida) gets a best award...he was the idiot giving the crowd the Gator chomp Monday night.
8:40pm  Starting to see some "D" 3 min to go first half.  Baylor recruit Perry Jones a couple big rejects.  He is 6'11" but only 225.
8:48  Saw a couple peeps wearing UK colors...but no Calipari with fake SAT scores and 100 dollar bills.
8:49pm  Nobody in this game wants any part of Sullinger...East just put on a couple of big time offensive drives.  Sullinger on line just hit two free throws!! A big man that can shoot free throws for the Bucks?
By the way...stilll have seen Dallas Lauderdale.  Missing after 1st half of Tenneessee game.
8:55  Half time...59-51 East.  Buckeye Deshaun Thomas final points of half.
8:56 pm...I'm a believer in Sullinger.  If this guy has been sick he will be a force when he is healthy.  He flat out takes the ball to the hoop.  We could see the best low post guy in a decade or more next year...for one year.
9:06Pm  Half time  Sullinger and Thomas both logged 12 min.  Sullinger 9 points, Thomas 4.  Did you know that Thomas came close to breaking Damon Bailey's record for the most points scored in Indiana basketball history?
9:07pm  Next season does Diebler become a number 6 role player for the Bucks?  Maybe that is his true spot on the team.
9:08pm Word is Sullinger is barely in shape.  2nd half getting underway.
9:10pm  No Buckeyes started second half...none of these guys played any defense in high school
9:16pm The west just put the "truck" in 6'10" Joshua Smith 280!  going to UCLA.
9:17pm 67-63 West...15 and change to go.
9:20pm I really want to see Sullinger go against the "truck"!  Maybe they will put him in after this time out.
The truck takes a minute to get down the floor...too many Big Macs!
9:21pm  both bucks in game...truck out...sullinger just muscled in for 2.  truck is taking a nap...worn out
this guy looks like an out of shape NFL lineman.  Deshaun Thomas bangin underneathe good sign for next year.  Bangers on the Bucks  good sign and different.
no defense east can't get back 75-71 west.  Sullinger on line hits 2.
9:30pm 77--75 east, Sullinger dunk
:9:35pm 81-80 East  NO DEFENSE
9.35pm Two guys rolling around in big plastic balls trying to win a TV...Golllee! what will they think of next?
Time out by the way...nobody would have stopped them anyhow.
9:35pm...doesn't seem if the men adjusted to each other as well as the women.  Truck back in I wonder how much weight they will try to take off of him and what is he doing in this game?
Must have been desperate for a west coast guy, he is the only one!
9:40pm  All these guys looked tired!  6 to go 94-87 west if you care...the players don't.
9:43pm Maybe all these peeps got some of the food poisoning bug that Sullinger got.  Must have been a tasty dinner at the awards banquet last night!  Rubber chicken is fighting back!
9:44pm These guys are in high school...where's the energy?  Women's game more physical and they came to play.
9:47pm  96-89 west another Sullinger dunk  and change to go
9:48pm  100-91 West  the college coaches will have a long way to go to teach any team ball to these guys...unless they play in the Big Least they won't need it.
9:53pm   Voting now for MVP of course Sullinger is one of three.
9:55pm 102-93  west...2 and a half to go
9:56pm Sullinger for three plus he dished off for an assist ...a rarity tonight.  one min to go 104-102 west
9:58pm Deshaun Thomas dunk ties it up...Sullinger wins MVP as he should.  104 tie 18 sec to go West w ball
10:00pm  game over,  107-104 west last minute 3 pointer.
10:15 pm  OK peeps, what did we learn?  We did not see much real basketball.  Maybe my expectations were set too high.  All I wanted to see was some basic offensive sets.  Never happened.
What I did see were a group of really talented basketball players that appeared to need a nap with about 3 minutes to go.  When crunch time came, they woke up in a big way.
Fortunately the player who took it over was one of the ones coming to OSU next year.  Food poisoning or not he was the complete package.
Forcing the inside game, slipping out to set a screen and even popping a few three's, Sullinger really was worth all the hype. As mentioned earlier he even hit most of his free throws.
I have no idea where and how Lauderdale will fit in next year if he ever reappears.  Obviously he will get minutes when Sullinger needs a break or if he gets into foul trouble.
Plus I know what you haters are saying.  "The guy hasn't even played his first Big Ten game yet".  He is NBA ready and wouldn't have to under the old rules.
Maybe we can get the rules changed for next season so he would have to be here for two years?
That's not happening plus once again we will be stuck wondering "what if"?
What if Evan Turner came back?  Dream on fellow Buckeye's it's not happening for about 7 to 9 million reasons on a NBA contract.
But this year we would have seen Oden, Koufous and Mullins with the Bucks if any or all would have stayed.
Dream on little campers and have a great night!

McDonald's All-American Game Live Blog

7:50 Introductions of teams...very much a who's who of this year's basketball powerhouses.  3 North Carolina, a couple Memphis and of course the two Buckeye's.  The biggest group was the undecided peeps.  If academics are their problems the Big Least (East) will probably be their home.

7:40 pm  Saw Sullinger before game.  He was hospitalized before game for dehydration...food poisoning.  Did'nt look too bad.

7:38 Pm  Girls game over.  Shooting real bade for most of game.  Threw up more bricks than the Crowell Collier Building!
Good speed however and surprisingly physical.
The ultra boring OSU womens coach Foster has not sealed off the borders.
Two Ohio players on girls team going out of state.  Most valuable Natasha Howard from Toledo and CJ's (Dayton) Samarie Walker.  Howard is going to Florida St and Walker is going to U Conn. No wonder Foster can't win the big one!77:17 p.m.: No Ohio State players here yet.

7:14 p.m.: Bryant Billing and Bill Hart will be live-blogging from the McDonald's All-American boys game tonight at Value City Arena. The game will tip-off at approximately 8:00 p.m. Don't worry, neither are paying much attention to the girls game that is going on right now. Well, Bryant is

Bill Hart's Sports Peeps: McDonald's All-American Pre-Game Festivites Show BIG Players

Basketball ranks about third in my list of favorite sports behind football and baseball. Regardless, the trip to the McDonald’s High School All American “Jam Fest” in Columbus last Monday night was exiting. Here is your “common man” perspective.

Our first stop was a McDonald’s north of Columbus. In a small space were jammed many BIG people (male and female), workers, and of course, a bunch of freeloading press peeps (me). The only information that came out of this venture was that Ronald McDonald is a Red’s fan and that he wears a 29 EEE shoe.

Live Blog From Powerade Jam Fest

Bryant, 8:59 p.m.: Bill and I are heading out for the night. Thanks everyone for following, and see you Wednesday for the big game!

Bryant, 8:47 p.m.: Memo to dunk contestant and Florida-bound Patrick Young: You don't win a competition by doing the gator chomp to judges that graduated from Ohio State.

Bill, 8:43 p.m.: You can miss a dunk at 6'11. I just saw it.

Bill, 8:35 p.m.: In case you wondered, Joe Jackson from Tennessee that is competiting now has never played for the Chicago White Sox.

Bryant, 8:24 p.m.: This dunking competition is not my cup of tea, but the current participant, Ray McCallum, caught my attention. He should be the deserving winner.

Bill, 8:21 p.m.: Dunking is all jumping and spelling.

Bill, 7:55 p.m.: I wondered how they were going to drag this thing out. Now I know - they're doing a dance that's lasting forever at half court. Probably some famous musician leading it, but like I know.

Bill, 7:42 p.m.: The average person could NOT do this 'skills' competition in any close time to what these players are doing it in. Contrary to what Bryant says.

Bryant, 7:38 p.m.: Really interesting to see the players and how well they are getting along tonight. A good point is that this may be the last time they  can truely play basketball for the fun of it - you can't do that in college.

Bryant, 7:28 p.m.: We had both the boys and girls three-point competition qualifying rounds tonight, and we're now in the 'skills' competition, which is an obstacle course on the court. Basketball skills at there best.

Bill, 6:59 p.m.: Evan Turner is in attendance tonight. Dallas Lauderdale is still missing.

Bill, 6:49 p.m.: First noticeable factoid of the day is that of the boys players here, only one player out of the 20 or so boys is going to a west coast school. Change in the water as far a basketball goes?

Bill Hart and Bryant Billing will be live-blogging from the Powerade Jam Fest tonight at Value City Arena in Columbus, which is part of the McDonald's All American Game week festivities. The fest includes dunk and three-point shooting competitions.

Division I State Final: Cincinnati Moeller vs. Massillon Jackson

GET ALL STATE FINAL STORIES TOMORROW HERE ON PENDASPORTS.COM!

10:10 a.m.: Jackson wins by the final of 57-34.

9:50 p.m.: Jackson out-scored Moeller 24-5 in the third quarter, and the Bears now lead 44-20 at the end of the third quarter. This game is done, son! Moeller could barely drive up the floor.

9:17 p.m.: Jackson went out in front with a more comfortable lead at 20-15 at the end of the second quarter.

9:00 p.m.: Moeller led for most of the first half, but a Jackson basket with 30 seconds left gave the Bears a 9-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. The game has been slow so far, as both teams are content with the slow-down game and are defensive minded. Jackson has been winning the battle inside, and they have blocked three Moeller shots inside.

8:43 p.m.: The game just tipped-off! Live updates are coming.

8:34 p.m.: We're set to tip-off the Division I state final game, which has Cincinnati Moeller pitted against Massillon Jackson. The game will tip-off in approximately 5 minutes, and it is the last game of the 2010 OHSAA state boys basketball tournament.

Division IV State Final: Newark Catholic vs. Dayton Jefferson

7:00 p.m.: Jefferson wins by the final of 59-52.

6:49 p.m.: Jefferson has stormed back to take a 55-51 lead with 1:29 left in the game. This final minute looks to be intense.

6:30 p.m.: Newark Catholic leads 42-41 at the end of the the third quarter, but Jefferson made a three-pointer and two free-throws in the final 30 seconds to narrow what was a 6-point lead to a 1-point lead.

6:22 p.m.: Newark Catholic leads 38-34 with 2:32 left in the third quarter after their eighth three-pointer of the game.

6:13 p.m.: Newark Catholic has came out and scored two three pointer right out of the gate in the third quarter, and a four-point play off of a three-pointer has tied the game at 33 with 5:27 left in the third quarter.

5:57 p.m.: Jefferson leads 27-23 at halftime. The game is still anyone's to win, but Newark needs to find a way score more easily against Jefferson. Meanwhile, Jefferson needs to find a way to make a shot period.

5:53 p.m.: A three-pointer from Matt Dawson of Newark Catholic with 1:33 left in the game has narrowed Jefferson's lead to one point 23-22. It Dawson's third three-pointer of the game, and he currently leads Newark Catholic with 11 points.

5:48 p.m.: Newark Catholic has managed to score 17 points against a stout Jefferson defense. However, Jefferson still leads 21-17 with 2:56 left in the game.

5:38 p.m.: Jefferson leads 14-8 at the end of the first quarter. Newark Catholic has had a hard time penetrating or find shots period against Jefferson's tough zone.

5:30 p.m.: Newark Catholic came out and took the lead early on a three-pointer, but Jefferson has made their pay on inside shots thus far, as they currently have an 8-5 lead with 3:38 left in the first quarter.

5:24 p.m.: The game just tipped-off. Live updates are coming!

5:10 p.m.: We're set for the tip-off of the Division II state final game, which has Dayton Jefferson put up against Newark Catholic. Jefferson is going for their fourth state boys basketball title, while Newark Catholic is going for their first title.

Division II State Final: Dayton Dunbar vs. Port Clinton

3:51 p.m.: Dunbar wins their fourth state title ever by defeating Port Clinton by the final of 64-50.

3:43 p.m.: Dunbar has an 11-point lead now at 57-45 with 1:20 left in the game. Dunbar has shut Port Clinton down this half, and it has earned them their fourth state title.

3:34 p.m.: Dunbar has a 42-37 lead heading into the final quarter of play. Dunbar came out quick to take the lead, and Port Clinton appears to be becoming tired, so Dunbar has a chance to put the game away.

2:51 p.m.: A three-pointer at the buzzer from Derek Colston has given Port Clinton a 27-26 lead heading into the locker room at halftime. It definitely could provide momentum for Port Clinton heading into the second half, as Dunbar needs to make some adjustments defensively in the locker room at halftime to prevent Port Clinton from scoring as they have been.

2:40 p.m.: Port Clinton is battling fiercely with Dunbar underneath and limiting their chances at rebounds. The Redskins came out and scored the first six points of the quarter, but Dunbar has came back to tie the game.

2:30 p.m.: Dunbar leads 14-12 at the end of the first quarter. Dunbar has yet to find anything outside to score on, while they have gotten all their points inside. Port Clinton has made two key three-pointers, both by Derek Colston, that has kept the Redskins in the game.

2:20 p.m.: Port Clinton has kept up with Dunbar scoring wise so far, but they do have the upper advantage inside. Dunbar currently leads 10-9 with 3:41 left in the first quarter.

2:13 p.m.: The game just tipped-off! Live updates are coming.

2:01 p.m.: We're set for the tip-off of the Division II state final game, which has Dayton Dunbar put up against Port Clinton.

Division III State Final: Lima Central Catholic vs. Orrville

The game article from this game will be posted at apprxoiamtely 5:00 p.m.

12:40 p.m.: Central Catholic survived the late Orrville run, as the Thunderbolts won by the final of 60-57. Look for a game article on this game to be posted here on PendaSports.com by 2:00 p.m.

12:30 p.m.: There is now cause for concern for Central Catholic. Orrville has pulled within one point after a basket from the Red Raider's Samuel Miller with one minute left in the game at 56-55.

12:18 p.m.: Central Catholic has a 51-44 lead with 3:25 left in the game. The game is still close score wise, and if Orrville has a good scoring drive left in them, I'd say they could win this game. However, with how Orrville has looked thus far, I'd say it's safe to start the party in Lima.

12:02 p.m.: Lima Central Catholic took their largest lead of the day after a three-pointer with 1:44 left in the third quarter, which gave them a 9-point lead at 41-32. Central Catholic is still up by 9 points at 43-34 at the end of the third quarter.

11:49 a.m.: Orrville started off on the right foot and tied the game with six minutes left in the third quarter on a three-pointer, but Orrville has worked their way back out to a 6-point lead at 36-30 with 3:33 left in the third quarter. Central Catholic is on their way to claiming their first state basketball title.

11:28 a.m.: Lima Central Catholic got a few fast-break points in the final minutes to take a six-point lead into the locker room at halftime with a 26-20 score. Central Catholic looks to be the physically superior team as the game continues. Orrville is going to have to start hitting more perimeter shots to narrow the gap.

11:20 a.m.: The first half of the second quarter started of very slow, as it was tied at 14-14 after 5 minutes. The last two minutes have really seen an increased pace, as it's now 20-16 with 3:28 left. Central Catholic has stepped things up underneath and has made a few second-chance shots, which has given them their current lead.

11:11 a.m.: Lima Central Catholic caught-up with Orrville in the second half of the first quarter, and they've tied the game at 12-12 at the end of the first quarter. The game has been going back-and-forth since Central Catholic caught up.

11:00 a.m.: Orrville is looking to put this game away early. Orrville has grabbed almost every rebound that has come there way early and is currently up 7-2 with 4:42 left in the first quarter.

10:57 a.m.: The game just tipped-off. Live updates are coming!

10:31 a.m.: I'll be live-blogging today throughout all of the state final games here at Value City Arena in Columbus. The first contest is the division III state final, which has Lima Central Catholic pitted against Orrville. Orrville is going for the fourth state title today, while Lima Central Catholic is going for their first-ever title today.

Bill Hart's Sports Peeps: OSU Goes as Far as Jon Diebler Takes Them?

Hartsports: Commentary from the Hartland!

By BILL HART
Commentary

The Buckeyes will go as far as Jon Diebler takes them? Think about it peeps. Evan Turnover provided nothing in the Santa Claus play-in game and then Deebs came to the rescue in the second half against Georgia Tech. As long as Diebler does not wake up to the fact that he is Jon Diebler, the Buckeyes should be fine.

R- E- S- P- E- C- T sing it peeps! Maybe not, but maybe we can bring Mo Town great Aretha Franklin to sing it to the basketball world. Why? Because Buckeye head man Matta doesn’t get any. I have never been one of his big fans, until this year. Forget about Big Ten golden boys Painter and Izzo, the head coaches of Purdue and Wishigan State. Matta, this year, blew them out of the water. The guy had no bench to speak of backing up a solid but not spectacular starting 5 (Turner aside). Matta coached his players UP. Just look south to Cincinnati to see a head guy in Mitt Cronin that coached his players down. The Bearcats tanked badly to the point of getting beat by UUUD (Dayton). When your team gets trashed by a second-tier Flyer squad it’s time to move Bearcat Coach Cronin out.

Bill Hart's Sports Peeps: Ohio University represents well.

Hartsports: Commentary from the Hartland!

By BILL HART
Commentary

Easy little guys! Ohio University’s win over Georgetown was a great victory for everyone except my bracket. However, don’t go overboard and consider your Bobcats belong in the same category as the Ohio State Buckeyes. After all, we let you use part of our name, and we did watch you get beat by Marshall in the “pizza-pizza bowl” (Sorry Scott). As Xavier found out a couple of years ago, the Bucks win because they are Ohio State and you’re not. Don’t get me wrong; I love the fact that O.U. smacked Georgetown hard as much as I love their Halloween celebration, but come on now, don’t get too carried away!

More NCAA feedback as the tournament progresses, but regardless of all this early posturing, no one beats Kansas.

Fairmont Falls to Toledo Waite in State

Toledo Waite has Ohio’s Ms. Basketball, wins 61-55.

By CASEY MATTESON
Sports Writer

COLUMBUS — Kettering Fairmont’s first trip to the Girls’ Division I State Basketball Final Four didn’t end they way they wanted it to. They faced Ohio Ms. Basketball in 6’3” Florida State signee Natasha Howard and a Toledo Waite team that sported a 24-2 record. The Firebirds (22-3) had cut the lead to one point, with the ball, with just under two minutes left, when they set up a three-pointer by Holly Carey that rimmed in-and-out, allowing Waite to seal the deal and claim a 61-55 victory to advance to the finals and face Canton McKinley.

Bill Hart's Sports Peeps: T.O. and Al Davis... all in one!

Hartsports: Commentary from the Hartland!

By BILL HART
Commentary

Say No to T.O.? Did the Bengals finally grow up? Was the specter of Ocho and TO on the same team too much? Obviously, “we doesn’t know it”. The stripes did pay too much for Antonio Bryant, but at least the team went out and tried to land a receiver. The move could backfire if Bryant turns out to be another Laveranues Coles. Unfortunately, the time hasn’t expired for T.O. to join the Bengals.

The true test of the offense will come from Palmer. He is running out of time to live up to his great potential. Another season of short-arming the ball and over-throwing receivers will be the beginning of the end.

Dayton Division I: Northmont vs. Colerain

10:13 p.m.: Colerain wins by the final of 69-63. Steve Newell led all scorers with 20 points for Northmont. Ken Kunkel and Javonta Harrison both had 13 points for Colerain.

9:59 p.m.: A three-pointer from Ken Kunkel with 4:22 left in the game has given Colerain a 60-47 lead. It looks like Colerain will win this one handily in the end, and that the GWOC will go 0-4 in the districts.

9:51 p.m.: Bad things may be brewing for Northmont. Since Trammell's three-pointer, the Thunderbolts are scoreless. Colerain went on a 9-0 run in that minute-and-a-half, including a three-pointer at the buzzer from Marcus Monteiro. The Cardinals now lead 51-44.

9:46 p.m.: A Northmont basket from Jamal Trammell with 1:41 left in the third quarter has given Northmont their first lead since the first half at 44-42.

9:25 p.m.: The game has gone back-and-forth since the five-minute mark in the second quarter, and Colerain leads by the slim margin of 31-30 at halftime.

9:12 p.m.: In the last 5 mintues, Colerain has out-scored Northmont 10-2. Colerain has buckled down big-time in defense.

9:03 p.m.: Northmont has come to work! A three-point play from Solomon King-White with 2:23 left in the first quarter has given the Thunderbolts a 15-8 lead. There's hope for the GWOC yet.

8:47 p.m.: The game just tipped-off! Live updates are coming.

8:16 p.m.: I'll be posting live updates of the Northmont vs. Colerain district final game tonight in the final of 5 district final games. Northmont is the final GWOC boys basketball team playing; Fairmont, Trotwood-Madison, and Wayne have all lost today.

Dayton Division I: Wayne vs. St. Xavier

8:13 p.m.: The final 45 seconds last has a host of fouls and timeouts happened, but St. Xavier still pulled away with the win at 46-40. Wayne becomes the third GWOC team of the day to lose. Northmont is the conference's last hope to send a team to the regionals, and the Thunderbolts will try against Colerain in the next game, which will tip-off at approximately 8:45 p.m.

8:07 p.m.: In what has been an almost unprecendently fast fourth quarter, St. Xavier has a 44-38 lead with 45 seconds left, and it looks like the Bombers have this game all but won.

8:00 p.m.: St. Xavier leads Wayne 34-30 heading into the fourth quarter! The Bombers went on an 8-1 run in the first four minutes of the quarter and really looked to be on top of things, but Wayne came storming back. Markus Crider had two thundering dunks in the final three minutes as part of a Wayne rally to keep the score close.

7:24 p.m.: As fate would have it, neither team scored in the remainder of the quarter, and we're still tied at 23-23 at halftime. Travis Trice leads all scorers with 11 points. Brandon Polking leads St. Xavier with 7 points.

7:21 p.m.: A basket from St. Xavier's Luke Massa has tied the game at 23-23 with 2:15 left in the second quarter.

7:11 p.m.: Despite a late run by St. Xavier to narrow the score, a basket from Wayne's Jason Bitsko at the buzzer broke a tie and put the Warriors up 13-11 at the end of the first quarter. Travis Trice has not scored since before the 4 minute mark in the first quarter.

7:04 p.m.: Wayne leads 8-3 with 4:12 left in the first quarter. Wayne has been attacking vigorously on offense, and Travis Trice has all 8 of the Warriors points. St. Xavier has been unable to penetrate Wayne's man-to-man defense thus far.

6:59 p.m.: The game just tipped-off! Live updates are coming.

6:04 p.m.: I'll be posting live updates of the Wayne vs. St. Xavier district final game right here on PendaSports.com! The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. Wayne and Northmont (who will play at 8:45 p.m.) are the last two GWOC representatives in the tournament after both Trotwood and Fairmont lost earlier today.

Dayton Division I: Trotwood vs. Moeller

5:26 p.m.: Moeller wins by the final of 51-47. So far on the day, the GWOC is 0-2. The GCL sends their second Division I team to the regionals with Moeller's win. Dawaun Thomas led all scorers with 18 points, while Darnell Tubbs added 17 points for the Rams. Charlie Byers led Moeller with 16 points.

5:22 p.m.: A three-pointer from Dewuan Thomas with 17 seconds left has brought Trotwood back within two points at 49-47.

5:09 p.m.: Moeller leads 41-39 with 2:30 left in the game.

4:55 p.m.: The game is tied at 34-34 at the end of the third quarter. Darnell Tubbs had 11 points in the quarter for Trotwood.

4:47 p.m.: A basket from Darnell Tubbs with 2:41 left in the third quarter has given Trotwood their first lead of the game at 31-29.

4:28 p.m.: A three-pointer at the buzzer from James Brown Jr. of Trotwood brought the Rams within four points at halftime at 22-18. Trotwood had to score 5 points in the last minute to narrow the gap, though. Overall, Moeller controlled the tempo in the quarter, and the first half as a whole. Griffin McKenzie had 10 points in the first half for Moeller. Darnell Tubbs led Trotwood with 6 first-half points.

4:12 p.m.: Trotwood battled back in the second half of the first quarter, as they finished the quarter on a 10-6 run in the last five minutes. The Rams started making their shots the first time around and got good penetration looks to the basket. Moeller still leads, though, at 14-10.

4:02 p.m.: Moeller is playing terrific defense so far, as if that is a surprise for being a GCL team, and, while Trotwood is getting plenty of second-chance opportunities, they have not yet been able to score a basket. The Crusaders' patience on offense has lead to a 8-0 lead in favor of Moeller with 5:10 left in the first quarter.

3:58 p.m.: The game just tipped-off! Live updates will be coming.

3:49 p.m.: I'll be posting live updates of the Trotwood vs. Moeller district final game right here on PendaSports.com! The game will tip-off in 4:30.

Cin. Woodard vs. Cin. LaSalle Live Updates

3:21 p.m.: LaSalle coats to victory in the fourth quarter, and they win by the final of 61-42. LaSalle had very balanced scoring, as three players (Josh Lemons, Matthew Woeste, and Brandon Neal) each had 12 points for LaSalle. Jeremiah Chancellor led Woodward with 12 points.

3:00 p.m.: LaSalle won the third quarter big 20-9 and the Lancers are now up 46-29 at the end of the third quarter. Woodward looks like they have thrown in the towel.

2:44 p.m.: LaSalle is starting to run away with this game, as they have scored the first 5 points of the quarter. Woodward, on the other hand, has yet to score. 31-20 LaSalle 5:55 left in the third quarter.

2:30 p.m.: LaSalle continued to build off their momentum from their 13-7 run in the last four minutes of the first quarter and beat Woodward 11-5 in the second quarter. LaSalle is grabbing almost every rebound that falls, and Woodward is not getting many second-shot opportunities.

2:11 p.m.: Woodward jumped out in front early 8-2, but LaSalle came storming back and dominated the second half of the quarter. A basket from LaSalle's Trey Casey at the buzzer has tied the game at 15-15 at the end of the first quarter.

2:00 p.m.: The game just tipped-off; live updates are coming!

1:38 p.m.: I'll be posting live updates of the Woodward vs. LaSalle distrtict final game here on PendaSports.com! The game is scheduled to tip-off at 2:00 p.m.

Princeton Blasts Fairmont in Second Half

Vikings are relishing “underdog role” in 2010.

DAYTON — Fairmont battled with the defending regional champion Princeton Vikings for the entire first half. Despite two starters having foul troubles early and having to sit on the bench in the second quarter, Fairmont won the second 12-10 and went into the locker room down only one point at 21-20. But, Fairmont head coach Hank Bias said after the game, “they didn’t go to the state last year on luck.”

The Princeton Vikings came out on fire in the third quarter and, on the back of 14 points by 6’4 senior guard and Ohio State bound Jordan Sibert, Princeton out-scored Fairmont 27-14 en route to their 59-44 district final win on March 13 at the University of Dayton Arena in Dayton.

Dayton Division I: Princeton vs. Fairmont

12:24 p.m.: Princeton takes care of business in the fourth quarter, and the Vikings are moving on to the regional tournament with a 59-44 win over Fairmont. Jordan Sibert led all scorers with 26 points.

12:04 p.m.: Princeton is up 48-34 at the end of the third quarter.

12:00 p.m.: Just as soon as I say that, Fairmont goes on a 6-0 run in the next minute. Adam Westbeld had four points underneath in the absence of Sibert, who was resting on the bench. Sibert is now back in and just hit a three-pointer, making the score 48-33 in favor of Princeton with 30.7 seconds left in the third quarter.

11:55 a.m. Princeton is starting to run away with this game now. The Vikings are up 41-26 with 2:07 left in the third, and three of Fairmont's starters have 5 fouls as they try and contain Sibert. Sibert now has 23 points on the game.

11:46 a.m.: A basket from Jordan Sibert with 6:39 left puts Princeton up 28-20 and gives Sibert his sixteenth points of the night.

11:34 a.m: Princeton leads 21-20 at the end of the first half. Ohio State bound Jordan Sibert has 11 first-half points for the Vikings.

11:29 a.m.: A thundering slam from Princeton's Jordan Sibert gives Princeton a 19-16 lead with 1:40 to go in the second quarter.

Bill Hart's Sports Peeps: Bad Karma in the "Naitti"

HARTSPORTZ! Commentary from the Hartland.

By BILL HART
Commentary

Bad Karma in the “Natti”. If you peeps remember the time in the spotlight the football University of Cincinnati Bearcats enjoyed last year, it’s coming back to haunt them now. For the briefest moment, the “Cats” wanted to fantasize they could run with the big bad Buckeyes. Countless cheap-shots were posted on the internet and on this very site. All you had to do was turn on 700 WLW-AM from Cincinnati to listen to a ton of cheap shot radio promos about UC outranking Ohio State in the polls.

WELLLLLLLL rockers, the second tier Bearcats couldn’t even keep their football coach, and now their basketball program is headed straight for the nearest “Sky Line Chili” dumpster. It’s getting real quiet in “the Natti”!

Late Northmont Run Dooms Springfield

By BRYANT BILLING
Sports Editor

DAYTON — The Springfield Wildcats got the rematch they had been wanting. After Denzel Lassiter sank a three-pointer with two seconds left in overtime to give the Wildcats’ a 62-61 win over Lebanon on Wednesday, March 3, Springfield earned their chance to get revenge from the Thunderbolts, who had beaten Springfield twice in the regular season.

“This is the game we wanted,” Springfield head coach Darnell Hoskins said of the match-up against Northmont after beating Lebanon on Wednesday. “The kids, and I, wanted another chance at them.”

And, as hard as it is to beat a team three times in one year, Northmont found a way in the end. The Thunderbolts came back from an eight-point deficit to the Wildcats at one point in the third quarter, and, after using a stifling 2-3 zone defense in the fourth quarter to hold Springfield to 5 points, Northmont went away with a close 40-39 win in the sectional final game at the University of Dayton Arena last Sunday, March 7.

Northmont vs. Springfield Live Updates

Live Score: 40-39 Northmont Final.

5:04 p.m.: Springfield can't get a shot, and Northmont wins 40-39.

5:01 p.m.: Springfield calls a timeout with 12 seconds left, and the Wildcats have the ball! Springfield head coach Darnell Hoskins call it just in time, as Springfield just turned the ball over on the far wing! Northmont is furious over the decesion. Here we go, folks!

5:00 p.m.: 40-39 Northmont with :22 left in the game. We'll see how this plays out...

4:54 p.m.: Springfield has been woefully unable to score against Northmont's stout 2-3 zone. The Thunderbolts have a three-point lead at 40-37 with under two minutes left in the game and are looking to wrap this one up.

4:49 p.m.: Northmont takes their first lead of the game since early in the first quarter at 36-35 off of another basket from Steve Newell, who drove down the lane for the made shot.

4:44 p.m.: Northmont has tied the game at 34-34 on a basket by Steve Newell with 6:10 left in the game.

4:40 p.m.: A Northmont basket right out of the gate from Jordan Taylor with 7:30 left has cut Springfield's lead to two points at 34-32.

4:39 p.m.: The third quarter again looked like a typical game between these two teams. Northmont won the quarter - barely - by the score of 8-7. Springfield has been unable to score enough to put the game away, so this contest could swing either way in the final stanza.

4:20 p.m.: This quarter went back-and-forth for the most part, but a couple of late baskets extended the Wildcats' lead to 27-22 at the end. Springfield won the quarter 9-6, as this quarter looked more like the other two games that these teams have played in. Springfield is looking for revenge, having lost both of the regular-season games they played against Northmont. Rob Moss and Denzel Lassiter each have six points for Springfield. Three Thunderbolts have four points. More frequent updates coming in the second half; update your page constantly for the latest!

4:04 p.m.: Springfield leads 18-16 at the end of the first quarter. The Wildcats have come out firing on offense, and Denzel Lassiter leads all scorers so far with 6 points off of 2 three-pointers. It is surprising that the game has been this high scoring so far, as both teams are defensive-minded. Springfield led 10-6 with five minutes left, but Northmont went on a 6-0 run over the next two minutes to take the lead at 12-10. Springfield retook the lead, though, and they now hold the lead at the end of the first.

3:45 p.m.: The game just tipped-off! I will be taking pictures in the first half, so updates will not be as frequent as they will be in the second half. However, I will try and provide updates every four minutes.

3:25 p.m.: Wayne won by the final score 64-54 over Xenia, having to out-score the Buccs 24-17 in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Springfield and Northmont will tip-off in approximately 20 minutes at 3:45 p.m.

11:05 a.m.: Get live updates of the Northmont vs. Springfield boys basketball game today right here on PendaSports.com! The live updates will include brief summaries and a new "live score" feature, which will have the actual live score of the game at that time. The game tips-off at 3:30 p.m.

Graham vs. Tippecanoe Live Broadcast

9:05 p.m.: Graham wins 58-50! The Falcons out-scored Tippecanoe 20-9 in the fourth quarter.

Shawnee Blasts KR Early, Back in Districts

By BRYANT BILLING
Sports Editor

SPRINGFIELD – Shawnee lost to Kenton Ridge twice in the regular season. The first time, a 64-47 loss on December 18, wasn’t pretty, Braves head coach Chris McGuire said. The second was a closer match-up, but Shawnee still lost by the tune of 56-51 on January 29. However, the third time turned out to indeed be the charm for the Braves, as Shawnee won the game that ultimately mattered the most, defeating Kenton Ridge 52-41 in a sectional final game last Friday, March 5, at Springfield High School in Springfield in front of approximately 2,000 fans.

“It’s very sweet,” McGuire said of the win. “It seems to be a pretty good rivalry – a lot of people in the districts seem to know each other, a lot of the goods know each other and have been playing against each other for a long time. They had our number this year, and it’s definitely sweet to get this one.”

It was definitely sweet for the Braves, and it was definitely the Braves who appeared to want the game more. Shawnee came out and blew-out Kenton Ridge in the first quarter alone, out-scoring them 19-5. Kenton Ridge didn’t even get a basket until slightly before the two-minute mark in the first quarter, and by that time, Shawnee had already built a thirteen-point lead.

Shawnee vs. Kenton Ridge Live Updates

9:20 p.m.: Shawnee wins by the final of 52-41. Shawnee was 10-13 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.

9:11 p.m.: A basket from P.J. Howell with 1:56 left in the game has given Shawnee a 47-36 lead, and it looks like the Braves have this game all wrapped up.

9:05 p.m.: A three-point play by Kyle Morris with 4:56 left in the game brings the Cougars within 7 points at 40-33.

8:57 p.m.: Shawnee goes out in front by 12 points at 38-26 heading into the final quarter by out-scoring Kenton Ridge 12-7 in the third quarter. I'll update if there's any big momentum change in this game, otherwise, assume Shawnee is taking care of business in the fourth quarter.

8:47 p.m.: A three-pointer from P.J. Howell with 4:26 left in the third quarter puts the Braves up 32-21. Kenton Ridge has come out flat on offense in the first four mintues - Shawnee has an opportunity to put the game away.

8:32 p.m.: The Cougars did make adjustments in the second quarter, and they won by the score of 14-7. Kenton Ridge began a tougher full-court press that limited Shawnee's successful fast break. P.J Howell has 13 points at the half for Shawnee, while Kyle Morris has 12 for Kenton Ridge. This game looks like it has becomse competitive.

8:16 p.m.: Shawnee bltizes the Cougars in the first half winning by the outstanding score of 19-5! Kenton Ridge's defense is attriocious, as the Braves are owning the boards early. Kenton Ridge has to make adjustments in the second quarter just to remain in the game.

8:00 p.m.: The game just  tipped-off! Live updates are coming.

7:50 p.m.: I'll be posting live updates of the Kenton Ridge vs. Shawnee sectional final game throughout the night tonight here on PendaSports.com! The game will tip-off in 10 minutes.

Bill Hart's Sports Peeps: OSU a Number One? And Support Ohio Girls!

HARTSPORTZ! Commentary from the Hartland.

By BILL HART
Commentary

Spring seeds could be great for the basketball Buckeyes. With the loss of Hummel at Purdue and mighty Fluke (Duke) falling to Maryland, Ohio State could feasibly snag a number one seed in the NCAA if they win out. Definitely not an easy task, but finishing undefeated would cap a huge comeback.

Top seeds will help rest the starting five, and the Bucks play well on the road, which will help in the Big Ten tournament. Countering that are potential problems with Diebler’s inconsistent shooting and a terrible bench. Fortunately, that bench is graduating and a stellar class is arriving next year. Count on the fact Turner will not be around next year.

Springfield vs. Lebanon Live Updates

DENZEL LASSITER THREE-POINTER WITH 2 SECONDS LEFT IS GOOD - SPRINGFIELD WINS 62-61 IN OVERTIME! More details later tonight.

10:27 p.m.: Dusty Isaacs, who missed four consecutive free-throws after making 12 in the game, went one-for-one with 8 seconds left for Lebanon after at Springfield foul. It's now 60-58 with 8.1 seconds left.

10:15 p.m.: We're headed to overtime! Lebanon threw up a long brick that didn't fall with a second left... overtime here we come!

10:13 p.m.: Denzel Lassiter hits a three-pointer with 10 seconds left! It was a lucky shot that bounced off the back of  the basket and fell back in! Tied at 55-55 with 10 seconds left!

10:11 p.m.: Springfield called timeout to set up a play, but they turned the ball over on the inbounds pass, and Lebanon got a three-point play with 29 seconds left.

10:10 p.m.: Springfield had the ball and turned it over with 50 seconds left and Lebanon was fouled with :42 left, but Dusty Isaacs missed both attempts, and Springfield has the ball back with 34.7 seconds left.

10:05 p.m.: Springfield held the ball for about a minute and a half, and the game is now tied at 52-52 with 1:16 left in the game.

9:54 p.m.: Springfield took the lead on a three-pointer from Latrel Leslie with forty-nine seconds left in the third quarter, but a three-point play from Lebanon's Blake Davenport twenty seconds later put Lebanon back out by two. However, C.J. Hookfin for Springfield put up a lucky shot at the buzzer that fell through, and the game is now tied at 45-45 at the end of the third quarter.

9:40 p.m.: Akeem Freeman has 5 points so far in the third quarter, and Springfield has ate into Lebano's lead a bit, as they are now down 34-31. Springfield has switched to a zone defense, which has been effective. Lebanon has already turned the ball over three times.

9:26 p.m.: Byron Thompson is keeping the Springfield Wildcats in the game. He has ten points at halftime, and two baskets in the final minute of the first half cut Lebanon's lead to 30-25 at the half. However, if Springfield is going to come back and win this game, they are going to have to make a change on defense - their man-to-man is ineffective thus far against Lebanon. On the other side, the Warriors have done their homework; they are running a zone that is causing Springfield problems. Springfield has not seen the lead in the game.

9:11 p.m.: A Lebanon three-pointer with three seconds left in the first quarter put the Warriors up by the score of 18-13 at the end of the first quarter. Springfield has been unable to handle Lebanon's offense thus far.

8:55 p.m.: The game just tipped-off! Live updates are coming.

8:35 p.m.: Northmont just defeated Butler 54-46, so if Springfield defeats Lebanon, they will advance to play the Thunderbolts for the third time this year. The game will tip-off in approximately 20 minutes.

8:00 p.m.: The Springfield vs. Lebanon game will likely be tipping off at approximately 8:45 p.m. tonight. The delay is due to the Sidney vs. Tecumseh game which went into overtime - Sidney won 65-57.

4:15 p.m.: Get live updates of the Springfield vs. Lebanon boys basketball game here on PendaSports.com tonight! The game is the night-cap of the three games at U.D. Arena, and it tips-off at 8:30 p.m.

Greenville vs. Graham Updates

9:01 p.m.: Tippecanoe is up 37-16 at hafltime of their game against Eaton. So, it looks like we will get the much anticipated Graham/Tipp rematch.

8:09 p.m.: Graham wins by the final of 47-29. Casey Crable led Graham with 21 points, while Nick VanHoose followed up with 9 points. Ethan Ward only scored 6 points on the night for Graham and only two baskets. Graham will advance to play the winner of the Eaton/Tippecanoe game this Saturday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Springfield High School. Eaton/Tippecanoe is the next game here tonight at Springfield High!

7:52 p.m.: Graham leads 35-23 at the end of the third quarter. The Falcons are controlling the tempo and are looking to control this game the rest of the way - I will update if otherwise.

7:33 p.m.: Graham is up 26-15 at the end of the second quarter. Graham's offense opened up a bit. Casey Crable has 13 points at the half for Graham.

7:16 p.m.: Graham is ahead 11-6 at the end of the first quarter. Greenville's defense has been causing problems for the Falcons, and they have limited Graham's shot opportunities, as they are claiming most rebounds.

7:00 p.m.: The game just tipped off; live updates are coming!

Springfield Division II Updates (3-1-10)

8:40 p.m.: Shawnee defeated Bellefontaine 41-39 in overtime.
